Oil Tank Concrete and Foam Filling London, Birmingham, Northampton & UK Wide
There are several methods how an underground fuel tank can be decommissioned. Historically the process involved filling the tank with sand or concrete. This is still viable, however this permanent solution makes it near impossible to remove the tank in the future, if required. Filling the tank with foam is a better alternative as it makes the tank safe and easy to remove should it be needed in the future.
Underground Oil Tank Foam Filling
If you prefer not to remove your underground oil tank or it’s impossible due to its location, decommissioning it with RG (Resin Generated) foam is the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly method. It has the following advantages
- In many occasions the tank does not require a full clean, just pumping out any remaining fuel. The foam is injected directly through the tank lid.
- The foam absorbs and makes safe any remaining hydrocarbons.
- The RG Foam is very light. It has a mass of 25kg per 1000L allowing for complete tank removal at a later date, if needed.
- Foam filling process is fast, preparing pipework and injecting the tank is simple. Decommissioning can be done with as little disturbance to your site as possible.
- The foam is non-toxic and will protect the tank walls from corrosion.
- If the tank is in good condition, the foam can be removed in the future and tank used again.
